Fruit Besties is a private fruit-bestie group chat for users 16+ who want a warm place to talk through tea, feelings, venting, and messy life moments. This Privacy Policy explains what information Fruit Besties collects, how it is used, and how to contact us.

1. App Store data summary
Fruit Besties may handle the following types of information, depending on how you use the app:
- User Content: chat text, selected screenshots or photos, local tea summaries, and AI response context used to provide the chat experience.
- Identifiers and Preferences: local app preferences such as nickname, exact age or birthday-derived age context, conversation mode, locale, zodiac sign, Secret Fruit state, and available fruit list.
- Onboarding and Product Analytics: onboarding question and answer selections, onboarding actions, feature button taps, and similar usage events used to understand where people need help and where the app experience gets confusing.
- Contact Info: your email address and message contents if you contact support.
- Purchases: purchase or entitlement status if subscriptions or in-app purchases are enabled through the App Store.
- Diagnostics: technical logs, crash reports, device or app diagnostics, IP address, request time, and error details may be processed for security and operations.
Fruit Besties does not use this information for third-party advertising and does not sell your chat messages, photos, or personal information.
2. Information you provide
Onboarding and preferences
The app may ask for a nickname, birthday or exact age, the kind of situation or feeling that brought you in, where you usually turn for support, what feels hard when sharing, what you are looking for, and your preferred chat mode. The birthday may be used to derive age-appropriate context and zodiac sign; the app does not need to send your raw birthday to the AI server.
Chat messages and attachments
When you use the chat, you may enter text and choose one photo or screenshot at a time for the fruit group chat to read. Fruit Besties only saves a copy into the Fruit Besties album in your Photos after you send that image in chat, not when you merely pick or preview it. Fruit Besties is not intended for stalking, coercion, explicit image reads, unsafe advice, or emergency support.
Support messages
If you email support, we collect the information you include in that message, such as your email address, feedback, issue details, and any screenshots you choose to send.
3. Information stored on your device
Fruit Besties stores chat history, selected photo attachments, local tea memory, onboarding preferences, conversation mode, Secret Fruit unlock state, and daily Secret Fruit guess counts locally on your device. This local storage helps the app remember the conversation and keep the experience personal.
If you enable iCloud backup in the app, Fruit Besties may save an encrypted or Apple-managed backup snapshot through Apple's iCloud systems so your local chat and profile can be restored on your devices. You can turn backup off in settings.
You can clear local chat data in the app settings. You can also remove local app data by deleting the app from your device.
4. Information sent for AI responses
When you ask the fruit group chat to respond, the app may send the latest conversation context, your message, selected attachments for that message, local tea summary, locale, age context, zodiac sign, conversation mode, and available fruit list to the Fruit Besties AI server.
At launch, Fruit Besties uses OpenAI through the Fruit Besties server to process AI requests and generate responses. The server uses this information to generate a fruit group chat response, route specialist or Secret Fruit behavior, apply safety handling, and return optional context such as mood or energy signals, memory candidates, context summaries, and image briefs.

- To provide the Fruit Besties chat experience and generate responses.
- To keep the app age-appropriate and safer for sensitive topics.
- To remember local chat context and app preferences on your device.
- To respond to support, feedback, and privacy requests.
- To maintain, debug, protect, and improve the service.
6. How information is shared
We do not sell your chat messages, photos, or personal information. We do not use your chat content or uploaded photos for advertising.
We may share information with service providers that help operate Fruit Besties, including OpenAI for AI processing, Cloudflare for hosting, Supabase for limited onboarding research counts and service data, PostHog for product analytics, Sentry for crash diagnostics, RevenueCat and Apple for subscription status, email/support tools, and other technical service providers. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
7. AI server and retention
The Fruit Besties server is designed to process chat and image requests for the purpose of returning a response. It is not designed to permanently store your chat history, screenshots, photos, or tea memory. Your ongoing chat history and selected attachments are stored locally in the app unless you enable iCloud backup.
Onboarding research and product analytics may be retained in aggregated or event form so we can understand where users drop off, which support needs are most common, and which features are useful. Support emails are retained as long as needed to respond, troubleshoot, maintain records, and comply with legal obligations. Technical hosting systems may temporarily process logs such as IP address, request time, and error information for security and operations.
8. Photos and permissions
Fruit Besties asks for photo access only so you can choose screenshots or photos to include in a chat and so the app can save a separate album copy after you send an image in chat. The app does not access your full photo library unless you grant permission through iOS. Selected images may be stored locally or in that Photos album and sent for AI processing only when you include them in a message.
9. Notifications and App Store features
The app may ask for notification permission so Fruit Besties can send helpful reminders or bestie pings in the future. iOS controls whether notifications are allowed. Fruit Besties may also use Apple-provided App Store rating prompts. These Apple features are handled through Apple's systems.
10. Purchases
Fruit Besties does not collect payment card details directly. If subscriptions or in-app purchases are offered through the App Store, purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's payment and subscription systems. We may receive purchase or entitlement status needed to provide paid features.
11. Children and age limits
Fruit Besties is intended for users 16 or older. The app is not intended for children or for users under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal information to Fruit Besties, contact us at hi@fruitbesties.com.
12. Your choices
- You can choose not to add photos or screenshots.
- You can deny photo or notification permissions in iOS settings.
- You can clear local chat data in the app settings.
- You can turn off iCloud backup in the app settings if that feature is available to you.
- You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or help with privacy questions.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Fruit Besties changes. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
